' ......between now and always: a Hampshire cantata 'is the title of the The Millennium Composition commissioned by Hampshire Music 2000. It was written by Martin Read with funds made available by the Millennium Festival Fund.
The work received its first complete performance in the climax to the Hampshire Music 2000 celebrations which took place at the Anvil, Basingstoke at the end of July 2000. Individual movements were also performed during this academic year. For further details please see the events diary.
The work consists of eight movements, performed by a variety of different ensembles ranging from primary school pupils to three of Hampshire's County ensembles. The movements are be linked by a narration telling of Hampshire's rich history.

Throughout the evening a musical game of cricket was played between two primary schools - relayed to the audience via a video screen. Earlier in the day, the results of a sixth form composition workshop were performed at a lunchtime concert.
