ERICSSON MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS |
Ericsson Mobile Communications, based in Basingstoke, provided sponsorship for the three-day musical Grand Finale at The Anvil Theatre, held on July 14, 15 and 16, 2000. These events marked the climax of Hampshire Music 2000. The project's aims of 2000 musical events and 2000 musical instruments, greatly enriched the musical opportunities for Hampshire's young musicians.
Richard Howlett, Head of Hampshire Music Service said
" We are very grateful to Ericsson for their generous support of Hampshire Music 2000. This donation leaves us free to concentrate on the musical content of the performances"
Ericsson is also providing long-term support within Hampshire Music Service's Especially Music project, through the purchase of a "Soundbeam" and workshops for pupils with special educational needs. This piece of equipment makes music using ultra-sonic sensors to convert physical movements into sound. Any movement which cuts through the "beam" produces a pitched sound, allowing pupils to improvise and compose by controlling sounds in a way never before possible.
